October data shows slight rebound in KC employment After dipping in September, employment rose in the Kansas City metro in October. The metro is now home to 1,115,900 jobs, up by 13,700 compared to one year ago using seasonally adjusted data. This is a modest increase of 1.2 percent which places us well to the back of the pack when compared to our peer group. The year-over-year employment growth was largely due to increases in government (both federal and local), education and health services, and construction. The metro’s unemployment rate also slightly increased from 2.5% to 2.7%, but the rate is relatively close to where we were in 2018 at 2.8%. |
